Charlie Moran, Sr. Partner and CEO
Charlie has more than 39 years of experience in the information systems industry in both consulting and business management positions. With extensive experience with a wide range of clients, he is sought out by client executives as a thought leader in technology strategy and planning and the development of pragmatic solutions to client challenges.
He has worked with clients in a wide range of industries, including Higher Education, Public Sector, K-12, manufacturing, utilities, insurance and telecommunications. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, change management, processing re-design, information technology planning, project management, data center management, ERP systems and custom applications development. He has led engagements at a variety of U.S. and international clients in working through the issues associated with improving the alignment of strategic goals and outcomes with transformed business processes, information technology investments and organizations.
His recent engagements have focused on developing multi-organizational collaborative initiatives, establishing strong governance structures to ensure successful buy-in to change and utilizing “Best Practices” for driving change within organizations.
Prior to starting Moran Technology Consulting, he served as the VP of Management Consulting at Blackwell Consulting Services and Education Industry Practice Leader. Before Blackwell, Mr. Moran spent 20 years at IBM in a variety of business positions, including creating the Higher Education Industry Management Consulting practice.
Mr. Moran has an Electrical Engineering degree with extensive progress on a minor in Theater from Notre Dame, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.
For almost 31 years, Paul has been working in the consulting industry helping clients achieve their business goals through the effective use of technology. His areas of expertise include enterprise resource planning (ERP) system selection, business process analysis and reengineering, technology assessments, program and project management, and large scale system implementation. Paul’s pragmatic approach to solving business problems makes him a key resource to clients as they seek to improve the delivery of solutions to their customers.
His engagements have crossed many industries with a heavy focus on higher education, public sector and insurance. He has led engagements at a variety of US and international clients to help them achieve better efficiencies through the implementation of technology solutions alongside improved business processes. His most recent client engagements have included the development of business cases for ERP systems, system selection and business process reengineering. Other recent projects included the assessment of IT organizations and the subsequent development of strategies to improve operational efficiencies within those organizations.
Prior to starting Moran Technology Consulting, Paul was a Director at Blackwell Consulting Services in Chicago where he led major engagements in the management consulting practice.
Before Blackwell Consulting, Paul spent 14 years with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). He had major roles in helping to grow the Business Process Management (Outsourcing) practice. Most of his efforts were focused on performing due diligence on potential outsourcing clients as well as leading large, custom development engagements. Paul also spent time with marchFirst, leading business development and major project efforts.
Mr. Giebel has a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Studies from Northwestern University.
Scott has been assisting organizations with their information technology objectives for over 21 years. He has extensive experience planning, designing and implementing secure network and infrastructure solutions for large, complex enterprises.
On his most recent client engagements, Scott has provided project management and subject matter expertise on diverse projects, including: IT security and organizational assessments, business case development and platform selection for enterprise email and directory consolidations, and large scale WAN, LAN, WLAN strategy, design and implementation.
Prior to joining Moran Technology Consulting, Scott served in a dual role as the Director of both the Network and Infrastructure and the Government and Education practices for Blackwell Consulting Services in Chicago. While at Blackwell he led major engagements assisting public sector, education, and commercial clients with strategic technology planning, resource management and organizational planning, program and project management, system selection and integration, network design and implementation, and the development of security, privacy, and compliance policies and best practices.
Before Blackwell Consulting, Scott served as a senior security and network consultant for XOR providing network and security assessments, designs, and implementation services to eCommerce and traditional brick and mortar clients.
Scott has a Bachelors degree from Wheaton College and a Masters and Doctorate degree from Loyola University Chicago.
Chris has over 31 years of experience as a seasoned project manager within Higher Education and Healthcare. He has managed numerous enterprise system implementation projects at both large public and smaller private institutions. His experience includes managing projects at four different R1 universities.
Chris has served in a variety of leadership roles within Higher Education and consulting. He has managed operations including Enrollment Management, Admissions, Financial Aid and Residence Life. He has also served in senior leadership roles within consulting at both Oracle and Ciber. Prior to joining Moran, Chris served as a Senior Director of Delivery for Ciber and served as the executive sponsor for several large projects of strategic importance. He possesses detailed knowledge of Higher Education business processes from a variety of departmental areas and multiple institutions, understands the global and detailed integration points of university core business processes, and has successfully managed multiple implementation projects to that end. Chris is familiar with the implementation methodologies of Oracle, Ciber, and Sierra-Cedar and has managed projects that include PeopleSoft, Workday and Banner software.
Chris has managed or been an active participant in more than four dozen implementation projects within Higher Education and Healthcare. He has developed and refined project management methodologies over the years and has advanced degrees and professional project management certification.
Rich Pushard, Practice Director- Academic & Strategic Services
Rich has over twenty years experience providing innovative strategic services across multiple industries including the sectors of Higher Education, Technology, and Financial Services. He has served in entrepreneurial leadership, management, and consulting roles that have sought to create differentiated and sustainable competitive advantage for clients and organizations in highly disrupted and shifting markets. Additionally, Rich has developed and taught graduate MBA courses in the areas of Design Thinking, Innovation & Disruption Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, and Strategic Planning, He has presented nationally on the impact of emerging technologies and alternative credentials on changing learner experience, and substitute products that are redefining the overall value proposition of Higher Education. Recent research has focused on opportunities for collaborative and consortium services to provide individualized and stackable academic credentials for lifelong learning.
For the last few years prior to joining Moran, Rich served as the Practice Manager for Ellucian’s Academic Services initiatives. Working with leaders from diverse institutions throughout the nation, he provided thought leadership, market research, decision sciences, and strategic services in areas focused on competitive market presence, industry alliances, institutional effectiveness, value-chain analysis, advancement, organizational assessments, digital transformation, change management, and insight generation & discovery.
His aggregate experience within the Higher Education sector includes institutional leadership, strategic insight and planning, and the comprehensive development and management of digital learning technologies, courses, programs and initiatives. He also served as the Senior Vice President of the MES Foundation
Additionally Rich served as the Senior Vice President of the MES Foundation which provided over $500,000,000 in low-cost educational loans for Higher Education, while serving as the region’s largest advocacy organization seeking increased access to higher education and lifelong learning.
Rich is finalizing a Doctorate in Management with an emphasis on Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He holds an MBA with a focus on Innovation, a Master of Science in Business with an emphasis on Strategic Planning, and a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Public Relations.
